Archdeacon Will 1687A #17 Rushen will of Gilbert Gell, per Articles of Marriage between William Gell & Catharine Watterson dated 21 April 1685, 
accepted as Gilbert's will in June 1687: 
Summary: Gilbert Gell is father of William Gell & John & Margaret & Alice [their mother xxxx is dead], Christian Gell alias Watterson alias xxxx [1st husband 
Robert Watterson, ArW 1637A #123 Bride] is the mother of Catharine Watterson & John Watterson; Gilbert and Christian are married (2nd marriages for both) & their 
children William Gell and Catharine Watterson are to marry about April 1685; witnesses: William Gawne & Richard Taylor & John Cottier & William Watterson & 
William Carown & Henry Watterson; also William Taylor of BallaQuinney.
Self: Gilbert Gell was dead by 15 June 1687 Rushen, decree made, per 1687 defuncts Rushen.
Self &c: 1686 Liber Assed quarterlands of Rushen, Gleton treen, Glendowne quarterland: Gilbert Gell had a farm of 6d rent & which total (of 10s 10d) 
was also rented by Edward Stanley (4s 11d), Henry Watterson (4s 7d) & John Watterson. 
Will of 1st husband of Christian (Gilbert's 2nd wife):  ArW 1637A #123 Bride will of Robert Watterson, died 17 September 1637, intestate: wife [Christian xxxx] is 
alive [she remarried Gilbert Gell who died 1687, ArW 1687A #17 Rushen], son John & dau Catharine are underage, supervisors: Robert's kin (probably his siblings), 
pledge: William Moore, NOTE: dau Catharine married William Gell (her stepbrother) in 1685, per Articles of Marriage; Catharine died about 1710.
Son William &c: South Side Sales, Rushen:  Old Deeds #11:  William Watterson & wife Catharine [Watterson] and Henry Quay & wife Joney  sold for £11 5s to William 
Gell of Rushen the tenement known as Glan saust (rent 33s 1d) except for 2 little crofts, Neyedressaugh & the High Croft (their rent 2s 6d), which 2 crofts were 
to be helf by William Watterson & Henry Quay; & if Henry had no issue, then his croft was to join with the estate of William Watterson, & also, neither William 
nor Henry could dispose of their crofts. Witnesses Daniel Callister & Henry Gawn, Court 1702.
Son William & his wife & their eldest son: South Side Sales, Rushen: Old Deeds  #9: date 15 June 1710: agreement: William Gell & wife Catharine ([Watterson] late 
deceased) had purchased Glan Shaft with the intent that it descend as an inheritance to their eldest son Gilbert, but the death of Catharine prevented this, so 
now it was agreen between William & Gilbert that William was to enjoy his own half and after his decease, it would descend as an inheritance except for a small 
croft (1 day's plowing) situated southward of the dwelling house between it and the strand adjacent to Fistard on the east & lately inhabited by Thomas Watterson 
& adjacent to the field known as Bolly Neddin. Gilbert was to occupy his mother's half and to pay consideration money to the other children.  Agreements regarding 
cropping, sheep, etc.  Witnesses: John Caveen & Daniel Callister. Court June 1711.

Aprill 21th 1685 Articles of marriage concluded and agreed upon betwixt Glbert Gell (one the on partye) in the behalfe of his son William Gell, and Christian his wife in the behalfe of her daughter Catharen Watterson, as followeth: first The foresd William Gell, and Catharen Watterson shall mette at the holy church of Trinitye Rushen, in K Xt Parish, & there to enter into the holy state of Matrimony if God and holy Church permitt the same, & that before Whitesontide after this Date 2ly Gilbert Gell gives to his son William Gell the halfe of his goods , that he is now possessed off and at the Latter day, the other halfe, exceptinge six shilling that is at the desposeinge of the foresd Gilbert to whome he please 3ly Christian Gell wife to her husband Gilbert Gell gives the halfe of her goods, in portion to her daughter, now at theire Mariage, and the other half, at her Decease, exceptinge halfe a crowne that she the abovesd Xtian Gell is to dispose of at the latter day Verte [next page] ffor the Conclusion of all the prmises the partyes have subscribed theire names and bound themselves in the penallty of ten pound ad usum Dmi: Gilbert Gell his mrk X Christian Gell his mrk X Will: Gell his mrk X Catharen Watterson her mrk X Although this above written is signed the above sd: Xtian, has bequeathed her houses to her son John Waterson wth the consent of her husband, & the younge couple William Gell, & Catharen Watterson Gilbert Gell X wittnesses Christian Gell X William Gawne X Wm: Gell X Philip Gell Catha: Watterson X Rich: Taylor X Jo: Cotter X June the 11th 1687 Will: Watterson X John Cottier Will Corane Hen Watterson and --- Wm Caroone X Cottier wittnesses to the above and wth pren----- Hen: Watterson X have deposed the same to be the mutuall agreemt: of the parties therewit before me Edw: Christian [next page] Gifts promised John Cotter X chitehes[?] of mall William Taylor net lambe of BalleyQuinney X This Contract being proved before ye Deemster is accepted according to ye purport therof, & as for ye 6s reserved by ye ----[dark] Gilbt: Gell to his own disposall it is decreed --- Contract ---------[dark] Gilbt: made noe will, yt his 4 children vizt Jo, Will, Margt: & Ailes shall be joynt Adminstrs: of ye foresd 6s John xxxx of yxxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx faxxxx xxxxing xxxx xxxx for xxxx xxxx Wm Gell sworn to pay all debts as farre as the goods will extend Acceptum est et solvit 1s Pledges according to Law Lewis Credeene & Jo: Nelson [on a slip of paper:] Trinity Rushen October 13th 1685[?] The Inventory of Gilbert Gell praized by 4 sworne men, vizt: Jo: Hutchen Jo: Taylor Jo: Nelson & Jo: Cotter who haveing a veiw taken, of all the several l goods chattles & moveable, doe praize the value of them to be totall sume of .......... 3£ - 3s - 1d Debts to be deducted on the deads par is ......... 2 - 9 - 0
