Ballaugh The last will and testament of Gilbert Cowley of the parish of Ballaugh who departd this life ye 26th of Decembr: 1687 as followeth: he committed his soul to God and his body to Christian Buriall; Itm: he bequeathed to the poor a firlett of corne & meat; Itm: he left to his wife Margt Karrett her choice of his two best horses; Itm: he left to his children Phillip and Jain an heffer betwixt them vizt the two parts to ye said Jain and ye third part to Phillip. Itm: he left to his said son Phillip, three yeards of woollen cloath, to be given him when he stood in need thereof.
