Archdeacon Will 1688A #27 Maughold will of Mary Christian alias Callow per 17 November 1679 Agreement, Mary died September 1679, wife of Ewan Christian 
of Ballure & Ramsey [he remarried to Isabel who died a month after Ewan], Ewan died January 1687/8:

Novembr: the 17th 1679 Wheras it hath pleased Almighty God to receive to his ----[edge] mercye from the troubls of this life Mary Christian Calooe the late wife of Ewan Christian of Ramsey ----[edge] shee leaving behinde her in this world one only child an orphan daughtr: whom the Law, because the sd Mary dyed Intested, hath decreed her sold Administrator, & the br----[edge] en & the sistrs one the Mothrs side overseers of the sd: childe who being very younge & of weake constitucon & the fathr of it seemingly kinde & naturall unto her, therfore chiefly for that respect the sd: overseers hath considered rece= =nimilye[?] amonge themselves best for the sd childe to remaine and have her maintanance & education with her sd fathr untill shee come to Lawfull yeares, and hee to give good securitye to the Spirituall office for the forthcoming & restoracon of the same when the law doth Invest her capable therunto, and to prevent all fu= -ture mistakes tending theunto eythr by the sd Ewan her father or by the sd overseers, It is this day (and by this prsent & writeing) agreed betwixt them, that the sd Ewan shall keepe the sd childe with fitting competency of meate drinke & cloaths in sicknesse & in health, dureing her nonage, the sd overseers fully Impower- ing of him, soe to doe resigning and passing over by these presents unto him the sd Ewan or any theire heyrs executors Administ- rators & Assigns, all or any wt: right they may have hereafter in Law unto the sd goods in any wise, by the death of y----[edge] said child, The said Ewan Christian and overseers ----[edge] nowledmt: of all the foregoing premisses to bee the ----[edge] and deed doe confirme the same to be theire Ac----[edge] by there severall subscripcons the day & years abovesd, and ----[edge] themselves in 40&pouund penaltie the one halfe th----[edge] Right honerable the Lord of this Isle, & the oth----[edge] to the party or partiesobserving punctually these premiss----[edge] wittnesses hereof This agreemt: was subscribed before me and as there Act and deed 9br: the 17th 1679 John Harrisson vicar Robt Calowe----[dark] Generall Christopher Calowe his signe Margret Calowe Willm: Corrin [next page] Mar 13 1680 I Jane Calowe doe give my full consent & assent yt if Mary Calows childe dye under age nevr: to claime any of the goods In regard that the sd Janyne shall not bee troubled here wth the cost & charges of bringing up the childe nor is to ---[fold] responsable for any of her goods nor yet to give in any securitye to ---[fold] office, but the sd sisters husband Ewan Xtin shall bee answerable shall Answerable for all himselfe and this I doe wittness to bee my ------[fold] culr: act & deede for as much as concerns mee therin Coram me Johan Harrison, vicar Genll Jane Callowe her mark---[fold]
