Andreas 1895 #210

This is the last will and testament of me Mary Kewin of Close e Kewin in
the parish of Andreas being of sound mind and memory at the making and
publishing hereof.
First I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.
Secondly I leave and bequeath to my son William Kewin that parcel of
purchased land to me belonging situate in the parish of Jurby called
Croit Wade being a part of the
quarterlands of Ballachurry and Ballakneale he to pay to my daughter
Jane wife of John Skinner the sum of one hundred pounds when he possesses
the said lands.
Thirdly I leave and bequeath the interest of the sum of two  hundred pounds
being this day secured upon certain houses and lands in the town
of Ramsey by Bond and Security passed by Thos Stephen and wife to me
to my daughter Catharine who is of weak mind and incapable of taking
care of herself together with a further provision hereinafter made for
her.
Fourthly I leave and bequeath to my daughter Mary wife of William
Garrett that parcel of intack land to me belonging situate in the parish
of Jurby called "Close E Quaill" to have and to hold the same to her and
her heirs executors administrators and assigns and I leave to her the
principal sum of the aforesaid Bond and Security for two hundred pounds
after the death of my daughter Catherine before mentioned and I do will and
direct that my said daughter Mary shall take the care and charge of my said
daughter Catharine during her natural life time.
Fifthly I leave and bequeath to my son Thomas Kewin all the rest of my
purchased lands (excepting that parcel called Close E Chimnally in the
parish of Lezayre -  he to pay as  hereinafter mentioned the sum of one
hundred and twenty pounds vizt sixty pounds being a legacy or sum to be paid
by him  in terms of his fathers will and the further sum of sixty pounds
which I now will and  direct him to pay the said sum of one
hundred and twenty pounds or the interest thereof yearly to be paid by
my son Thomas aforesaid towards the support of my daughter Catharine the
principal sum to be paid and applied as hereinafter mentioned vizt
sixty pounds thereof to my daughter Jane twenty pounds thereof to my
daughter Mary and the remaining forty pounds to my son William and in case
he my said son Thomas refuses to pay the said sum of one hundred and twenty
pounds or disputes this my will.  I leave the purchased lands aforesaid left
to him to my two daughters and my son William they to
pay to my son Thomas the sum of One hundred pounds.
Sixthly I leave to my granddaughter Jane Skinner that parcel of intack
land situate in Lezayre called Close e Chimmeally to be possessed by her
at and upon my decease to hold the same to her and her heirs exors admors
and assigns.
Seventhly I leave all my wearing apparel to my daughter Catherine as legacy.
Lastly I leave and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my
goods cash chattels and effects to my two daughters Jane and Mary equally
between them share and share alike and I nominate constitute
and appoint my aforesaid daughters, last mentioned, whole and sole joint
executrixes of this my last will and testament and it is to be understood
that the legacies hereinbefore mentioned to my children severally is to
be in full discharge of whatever legacies were left them by their father
deceased.
In witness whereof I the said Mary Kewin do hereunto subscribe my name or
make hereto as and for my last will and testament this 2nd day of February
1847.

At an Eccl Court held in Ramsey the 20th Feb 1849.
Husband of executrixes sworn to execute the will with pledges namely Thomas
Kewin and John Corkill
The humble petition of Jane Garret and Catherine Garrett of the parish of
Andreas spinsters.
Sheweth:  That petitioner's grandmother Mary Kewin late of the parish of
Andreas departed this life in or about the year one thousand eight
hundred and forty nine having first made and duly executed her  last will
and testament in writing bearing date the 2nd day of February 1847 whereof
she appointed her daughters Jane Skinner and Mary Garrett residuary legatees
and executrixes thereof.
That at an Eccl Court holden at Ramsey the 20th Feb 1849 Letters of
administration with the said will annexed by the estate of the said decedent
were granted to John Skinner and William Garrett in right of their wives
that said Jane Skinner and Mary Garrett.
that the said John Skinner and William Garrett both died without fully
administering the said estate and it is necessary that fresh Letters of
Administration should be granted.
Wherefore petitioners pray hearing hereof and that your Honor may be pleased
to grant Letters of Administration of the estate of the said Mary Kewin
deceased to petitioners brother William Garrett of the said parish
of Andreas or some other fit and proper persons and petitioners will
pray.

Ordered that this petition do come to be heard before me at a court to be
holden at Ramsey  Monday the 4th day of November 1895 whereof all proper
persons and parties are to have due notice.
